Maybe I sound strange, but the porn industry is in crisis, and not because of falling demand.  The problem is the technological advances and rising competition.  In recent years porn websites have proliferated, as well as the dissemination of amateur videos and piracy. Researchers at the University of Oxford, which is based in England, surveyed a number of persons in their circle of friends about their behaviour when romance comes calling.

The average core group of close friends, on average, usually consists of about five people but this figure dropped significantly when they entered into a courtship, from five to two. The research, to be published as part of the British Science Festival to be held at the University of Aston, was led by Robin Dunbar of the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology, who also demonstrated that this works for both females and for males.

The study examined how much time people spend with their friends and relatives.  They   found the bonds of friendship suffered more than family relationships at the beginning of relationships, since in many cases family members are seen as a matter of course due.

540 people participated in the study, during which period 363 began a new romantic relationship. Dunbar said that this was a result not expected at all and that friendships often begin to deteriorate when time passes and people involved in this friendship are not on the same page, but they did not expect that love could be another reason to loose a friendship. The study also showed that 82.2% of people who had internet were in a relationship, compared to 62.2% of those who had no connection. Scientists said they realized that online networking was very important, especially for people who wanted to find potential mates in groups where the candidates are few or where they want to identify their tastes (such as  among the gay community and for older heterosexual love-seekers). As revealed after more than two years of participation, 61% of same-sex and 21.5% of heterosexual couples met through the Internet.
