Chianti Wine – A route from Florence

Do you like wine? And Traveling? So I think we have a perfect combo to propose that you will certainly like. This is the chianti route, in Tuscany, starting in Florence.

Moreover, if you are someone who prefers to travel off-season, because there are fewer people, because it is cheaper, then his is an alternative to travel in low season as the best time to do this trip is in fall, as the harvest begins in September and that means that the wines been maturing and thus, it is time to taste them for parties and celebrations.

I hope you´re a romantic, you love the Mediterranean and the quietness of the warm colors, because, then, certainly, you are in the perfect place. Our route begins in Florence, but includes the region of Tuscany, full of villages of stone houses, narrow streets full of tiles, from vineyards to landscapes that belog in painting.

What do you need?

Only a car (yours or rented), a little forethought (worth renting accommodation in each town you visit, to avoid having to take the car back and forth to the same place every day and one or two  good companions, for example a book. Even the latter is dispensable

 
Strada dei Vini route Chianti Rufina and Pomino

Note that in Tuscany there are 14 wine routes, so it´s going to be virtually impossible to do them all unless you stay threre three months. Here we focus on the Strada dei Vini route Chianti Rufina and Pomino. This route includes the towns of Rufina, Pontassieve, Pelago, Londa and Dicomano. In each of these towns they have guided tours wineries, restaurants and wine tastings. If you are a wine aficionado, you probably already know, but just in case, Chianti wine is red and Pomino, is white.

 From Florence, we will drive to Pontassieve. It is only 14 kilometers from Florence. It is a town of about 20,000 inhabitants. If you like architecture, here you can see up to 7 different churches. if you prefer to eat and drink well, you will also find good restaurants and many wineries, as Fattoria Di Fi Galiga and Vetrice Pontassieve, Federigo Cencetti Vinico-fi Cantina, Cantina Vicas.

Next stop is Rufina. One of the most popular villages wine routes in Tuscany. Surrounded by vast vineyards, this city welcomes all visitors who lare welcomed to taste their amazing wines and foods.  There is a great deal on wine tastings, an idyllic landscape that will accompany your dinner, if you´re lucky with the weather ypu can even enjoy the activities outdoors. Featured Wineries:

Selvapiana, Colognole, Fattoria i Busini, Azienda Vinicola Grati Le Coste Di Giu-fi and Casa Vinicola Dreolino-Fattorie Petroio.

The next day, you can drive to Londa. It is a tiny town of about 2,000 people with three very good restaurants and of course, wine cellars where wine bottles can be bought if you want  to take some  home.

The last stop is Dicomano. In this town dating from the middle ages we find the emblematic church of Santa María, in Roman style, and as always, good food and a warm atmosphere. Wineries worht to mention: Frascole yFattoria Il Lago.
