Danza in Fiera – Florence
Danza in Fiera is one of the biggest dance exhibitions held at the Fortezza del Basso in Florence from the 21st to the 24th of February. This event gathers all dance business in one place. The event will bring together dance professionals, amateurs and curious, who will have the chance to get in contact with the latest dance trends and techniques.
Danza in Fiera doesn’t put any dance style aside. There you’ll find hip-hop, contemporary-classical, tango and Latin dances, as well as ethnic and burlesque, all of them and many more.
But what exactly can you find at Danza in Fiera?
Well, there will be many booths with the most selective products for dance and sport, but there will be booths dedicated to schools, associations or dance companies. In addition, there will be performances and shows performed by great dancers, as well as national and international companies.
Visitors will have the chance to attend free dance classes with famous dancers. There will also be lectures, workshops, exhibitions, meetings, competitions, auditions and castings.
Among the most important shows of the event are: The Nutcracker by the Russian master Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, which will be performed on the 23rd at 11:30h by the Russian Ballet Society. There is also a very interesting photographic exhibition called ITALY / USA DANCE MOVEMENT by the Italian photographer Alessandro Botticella, which documents dance events during 2012 in both Europe and America. On the 24th at 10:30 pm, you can’t miss the performance by a very special guest, Master André de la Roche who will offer modern jazz lesson-hearing from 11:45 h to 12:45 h.
Dance in Fair will officially open on the 21st at 15:00. Day tickets cost € 15.00, and the three-day tickets € 40.00. Children under eight can attend the event free of charge, while those between 8 and 12 years will be charged € 10.00. Fortezza del Basso is about 4 km away from Florence, but it is very simple to get there: by car you have to take the highway “Autostrada del Sole A1″ exit at Firenze Nord or Firenze Sud, by taxi it will take you about 20 minutes, just in case here is a taxi line: 055.4242. If you decide to come by bus, you will have to get off at Santa Maria Novella, 250 meters from the fair.
