In the same way, carnivals are a singular moment when all cultures unite and can show the most colourful side of their traditions, all of them represented in light and costumes. Once again, wrapping the body with festive or allegoric costumes make communities discover unusual celebration experiences and, generally, the costumes refer to particular regions, the history of the place and the great character of the party itself.

What costume do you choose in order to be part of the carnival? Perhaps in an Italian carnival, an essential item is the beautiful mask, that you can find in all types, sizes and colours. Then dress with lively colours, whether it’s red, blue, yellow or green and a tunic or a light garment will be the best things you can use to be part of the celebration on those dates. Florence is one of the cities that offers best options when it comes to purchasing an adequate costume, a unique and interesting one. You have to arrive in good time though, if you’re thinking of sorting out your whole costume in Florence itself.

In the same way, an open attitude to adventure can be your best way to get to know new people, explore new options of fun and, who knows, maybe some romance too. A chance like the one where you use a costume and a mask allows you to become someone else, become a different person and modify your personality according to the carnival character that you are. Don’t doubt in experimenting with your personality when you’re dressed up and ready for the party. In Florence, everything in possible. This beautiful city still preserves the charm of its past centuries that has conquered so many travellers from around the world.

Once in Florence, you’re just a step away from one of the most successful and famous carnivals in the whole of Italy, no less than the Carnival of Viareggio, in the town with the same name. It will take you only an hour and a half to arrive there. The carnival is divided in four Sundays and a Saturday. The dates are the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th of February and Saturday 3rd of March. Italian Tribute to Madonna

August 04, 2011 By: florenceblogger Category: Florence

At this point in history, Madonna is probably one of the most important figures of the last hundred years. And this is not an exaggeration. Since her beginnings in the tough and competitive city of New York, where pop was just an effervescent movement along with thousand of more radical performances in the Lower East. Madonna is not a star to appear from nowhere, on the contrary, she was everywhere. She came to New York in 1977: where Ramones, Patti Smith, Television, Blondie, Talking Heads reigned, but Madonna was a Punk Rocker Madonna, like Sheena, like Judy.

italian tribute madonna
From “Everybody”, a tune that tells everyone to dance and form a band, to”Like a Virgin”, where her scandoulous and daring dances shocked the MTV ceremony before a stunned and hungry audience avid for more and more. Madonna released her first single when she was 25, a rather advanced age compared to fast food teen stars that sell in the pop market. Madonna from the beginnings wanted to take you to bed. There were no teens involved, or girl to corporation woman either. Her story was about dancing singing and rockin’ out. Madonna was Rock n Roll, the experimental band Sonic Youth, even dared to publish a tribute album with the name Ciccone Youth

It is necessary to review the  entire career of this pop goddess to know that indeed,  she knew how to do things right and her boundless ambition led her to be one of the most prestigious singers, along with a significant business knowledge, which she has managed in the manner of David Bowie who constantly transformed his image remaining in stardom nearly four generations later

If it’s homage you’re looking for, The Celebration is now one of the best “unique” Material Girl tribute bands in Italy. With a potent sound and awesome staging set up, The Celebration leaded by singer Freaky Bea and a virtuoso band with lots of attitude brings you Madonna’s greatest hits on stage,. If you love nostalgia, pop culture and vintage eighties, it’s your thing. You can learn more of thisperformances in Italy and learn more about this unique group by visiting their official website

Danzainfiera in Florence

February 08, 2011 By: florenceblogger Category: Florence

Florence’s Danzainfiera is a four day event which celebrates the art of dance, with all the best from the world of dance organized into 500 events, seminars and performances. It’s an opportunity for dance schools, companies, and fitness centers from around the world to showcase what they have to offer.

danzainfiera

The fair, which takes place over the 24th-27th February, will be 65,000 square metres of exhibition space for shows and events with leading figures of dance culture. Danzainfiera is an important platform for making dance more open, so that it can be celebrated in an accessible environment, away from the exclusive reputation that it has always had. The aim is to go back to the roots of dance, and the idea of expressing emotion through graceful and coordinated movement. Dance is a form of non-verbal communication with its own special language, whose codes encompass humanity as a whole, and it’s one of the few art forms where the action itself is the focal point, with the person just the support for this. It’s an art which is full of beauty, emotion and expression – just as much for the audience following the story unfold as for the dancers experiencing and performing it.

Dance is also one of the most symbolic forms of art because it stresses the need for human expression, and the communication of a message to an audience. Historically, dance has always represented the pursuit of freedom of both the mind and  the body. From slavery there emerged hundreds of different dances, all voicing resistance to barbaric oppression, rejection of the chains of imprisonment, and the pain of lost freedom. In this sense, dance has always drawn upon the movements of daily life, the rituals of social behaviour, the different elements of political and spiritual life, which all combine to create a singular and unique form of expression.

Dance is also deeply connected to human sexuality – the erotic, and the passion of love. Dance conquers the lover, seduces them, awakens their desire and brings a shared pleasure. The bible tells of the ability of the rebellious Lilith , first wife of Adam, of using and moving her body in order to seduce men, leaving them impotent or stealing their semen whilst they slept. Basically, she is the embodiment of the power that dance, and movement of the body to seduce. It is understandable then that the language of movement is a source of liberation and sensuality, allowing a person to unlock their erotic emotion.

This is why dance is a wonderful, freeing and healing art form – one that we should all be able to experience, for a happier mind and body free of all social barriers.
